History of Disney Land - 2503 Words

This paper will discuss the history and development of Walt Disneyland and Walt Disney himself. It will describe Walt Disney’s life and what gave him the idea to start such an amazing and magical kingdom. You will understand the reasons on why Walt decided to open up another park in the United States and then all over the world. Such an amazing park with so much history helps explain some of the secrets that Disneyland and Disney World posses. July 17, 1955 was the day the magnificent park was opened to the public. President Ronald Regan, not yet president at the time stood at the gates of Disneyland in Anaheim, California in front of thousands of children and their families introducing Walt Disney to everyone. The idea of Mickey Mouse popped into Walt’s head on a train ride from Manhattan to Hollywood. He lets his brother Roy know that everything was ok because of how positive he was about this. Mickey Mousse was not always Mickey Mouse his original name was Mortimer but Walt’s wife Lillian told hi he should change it because she thought it was to pompous, so Mickey Mouse came out of it. The first Mickey Mouse cartoon was Plane Crazy in 1928, and it screened in Hollywood on May 15,1928. Walt was inspired by Charles Lindbergh’s heroic solo flight across the Atlantic.10 The plot was Mickey and a group of his animal friends who tried to create their own airplane. Plane Crazy was a silent film. Mickey only whistled and made a couple sounds but never actually said any words. it wasn’t a very big hit. His second cartoon with Mickey Mouse wasn’t a big hit ether titled The Gallopin’ Gaucho. It wasn’t until his third cartoon Steamboat Willie that Mickey Mouse took off. Jeff Sullivan argued (http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/welington-castillo-isnt-the-orioles-best-catcher/) that Castillo isn’t the Orioles’ best catcher due to his poor pitch framing ability. But just because Castillo struggles with framing,†¦show more content†¦It’s safe to say that this dataset indicates that Castillo is pretty terrible when it comes to framing pitches up in the zone. He’s not much better relatively speaking when it comes to the middle of the zone. This data portal ranks his defense from 2014-2016 as yet again the worst out of all 103 qualified catchers with a -11.75 framing value. Yet again, it makes little difference whether pitchers throw the ball inside or outside. His best year in the three year sample was in 2016, when he ranked 73rd out of 76 qualified catchers. Let me reiterate that this data portal ranks Castillo’s defense most favorably. It’s safe to say that this dataset thinks little of Castillo’s ability to frame pitches in the middle of the zone. Castillo excels when it comes to framing pitches in the bottom of the zone. From 2014-2016, his framing ability is ranked 28th out of 103 with a 6.32 value. He has pretty poor results framing pitches in the inside part of the zone, ranking only 70th out of 103 with a -1.33 value. However, he ranks 27th out of 103 framing pitches low and away with a 3.03 pitch framing value and ranks 13th out of 103 framing pitches that are just low but in the middle of the plate with a 4.63 pitch framing value. English versus Math Essay To most people English or Language Arts is a creative course and math is just a logical, you get it or you dont class. My purpose writing this paper is to change your mind. I believe that Math is just as, or more creative than English. I will demonstrate this through a couple of examples. First, we must understand what is behind the creative aspect in English. Most people consider that English is the, creative, subject because of titles such as creative writing and creative thinking and in contrast there is no creative something in math. In English when we are, lets say, going to write a creative short story we use our imaginations and there are no limits. Now on the other hand in math when faced with a problem such as; if you have 300 meters of fence and have to enclose a rectangular field. What would be the dimensions of the field that would yield the largest area? When mathematicians go to solve one of these they have to be creative in their problem solving. Perhaps, one of the best ways to demonstrate creativity in math is through an identity question. An identity question is where you have an equation and you try to manipulate each side individually without touching the other side and get them to be equal. We start off with something like sin squared theta over cos theta plus cos and the objective here is to prove that it is identical to sec theta. At first looks there is no connection but by using creative methods and hours of work eventually we figure out the way to do it. Sin? + Cos ? | Sec ? Cos ? | First I would make everything over Cos ? Sin ? + Cos ? | Sec ? Cos ? | Then I would apply a law 1 | Sec ? Cos ? Then a simple law Sec ? | Sec ? You can prove that it is creative because a computer cant solve this equation, (a computer thinks logically). Technically a computer could solve this equation but it could just tell you if they were equal and not to the same level of accuracy. A computer would input a value for ? on both sides and if the answer is equal then the equation is equal. The problem with this is that when you get into trigonometry there could be a difference in the decilionth decimal place. A computer cant work with the abstract which is what is in my example. A computer may take 2 seconds or a million years to find an answer or it may give the wrong answer! The other point is that a computer can only perform things in a certain order it cant guess or have a feeling about a question, which brings in the creative aspect. Another example happened during one of my Calculus classes that I believe to be the most abstract and creative of the maths. A fellow student and me figured out pie. We figured out that the integral from 0 to1 of the square root of x minus 1 is equal to half of pie. We had huge problems figuring out this equation but persistence eventually won out and we solved it. Later we found out that this was a University Calculus level question and we shouldnt have been able to solve it due to our lack of skills in this area. Creativity then can be the only culprit for our derivation of the solution. Finally one of my strongest points is that on some of the more creative math units the more creative people usually the artsy type do a lot better than in the other units and by no means because these units are easier. Remember that I am not saying that English isnt creative, just that Math is more creative than anyone gives it credit for.

Answer: Relationship Between George and Lennie In the first chapter of the play, Mice and Men, the relationship between George and Lennie is quite difficult to judge. However, the depth of the friendship became understandable eventually by keeping pace with the play sequences. In order to judge the friendship depending on the first chapter, it will highlight the obligations reflected through the carelessness of Lennie. However, George was shown to be much caring in such aspect. Therefore, it can be interpreted that the relationship is quite similar to the sibling relations where the older brother is taking care of his younger brother[1]. The care and concerns of George towards Lennie become much prominent through the line: ...if I was alone, I could live so easy. I could go get a job anwork, anno trouble. No mess at all, and when the end of the month come I could take my fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want. Why, I could stay in a cat house all night. I could eat any place I want, hotel or any place, and order any damn thing I could think of... An Whatta I got,... I got you!... You keep me in hot water all the time[2]. The statement presented by George was quite like the complaints derived from the older brother. However, after hearing such words from George, Lennie wished to know whether he should stay or go away. George kept himself calm and felt ashamed for his behaviour. He then asked Lennie, where the hell could you go? This remark hurt Lennie even more. However, understanding his feeling, George added the following statement: I want you to stay with me, Lennie. Jesus Christ, somebodyd shoot you for a coyote if you was by yourself. No you stay with me. Your Aunt Clara wouldnt like you running off by yourself, even if she is dead. Such statement presented by George is signifying the caring attributes and responsibility towards Lennie. It is also to be noted that the George is quite offended and irritated with Lennie, but at the same time he is much responsible towards him. The child like nature of Lennie has made George much fond of him[3]. On the other hand, Lennie have alwayd been dreamt of having an older brother and a true friend like George. Therefore, it is noticed that even if there are so much of fights like other siblings, they care about each other and need each others company as well. The care that Lennie receive from George is quite motivating for him[4]. On the other side, George also likes Lennies childish behaviour as his own younger brother. Lennies presence gives George the reason to live[5]. Hence, when Lennie asked if he should go away, George firmly rejected his idea of leaving him. In order to live a live, people need the support of others, especially the supports of friends are required. It is noted that at some point of time, people need someone to share their dreams and to talk[6]. In case of both George and Lennie, it is seen that both had no one in their family. Lennie had an aunt and after her he was the responsibility of George. Therefore, it can be inferred that both give each other the reason for holding on to their lives. In this play, George is portrayed as the parental figure whereas the childish nature of Lennie is highlighted much prominently. The differences between their physical appearances are also judged through the play sequences. The structure of Lennie is illustrated as a bear, which has huge figure and shapeless face. The juxtaposition of these two characters is signifying the contrasting scenario. It leaves the different image of the characters on readers minds[7]. At the first chapter, several obligations are found between these two characters. The fights like siblings and eventually it turns out to be the most caring and motivating relationships[8]. However, while evaluating the relationship between George and Lennie, the external influential factors are needed to be concentrated more specifically. During the depressive scenario, the bonding of the friendship between these two people has become much prominent. Both of them are shown to be as the struggler for money since they work in f arms. On the other hand, the similarities found between them as they both stay alone and need each other. George sacrificed his job stability and the independence he could ever get in order to live with Lennie. It generally reflects the true bonding between these two characters. It is even generally portraying the string friendship between them and it reflects eventually depending on the different situations. Even though there are no family relation between these two fellows, but the bonding of togetherness made them true friends. They are found to travel together, work together, and dream together. They even enjoy their companionship, which has made them stay together leaving all comforts. They both dream of having a dream of owning a farm together. However, the different scenario portrayed in the play is suggesting the hardships that have to face in every days life. Therefore, it is quite evident that their relationship is of a true bonding of friendship[9]. Even after the heavy criticisms, they cannot even stay without each other. The parenting figure, George, maintains his responsibility towards Lennie as promised to lennies aunt. On the other hand, the Lennie feel safe being with George since he can share his dream and feel protected staying with him. This companionship and the exchange of feelings are the true sign of real friendship, which have been reflecting throughout the play[1 0]. They share the relationship of fights, siblings, friends, and dreamers, which is hardly recognised in normal friendship. Eventually, when the plots unfold, the signs of their true friendship reveal accordingly. Hence, it can be inferred that their relationship in this play reflects the true sense of friendship.
